Several years ago, I joined the bandwagon of people getting into collecting vinyl records. This started as a fun way to reconnect to the music I loved growing up, but also was a vehicle to make sure my two young boys would build an appreciation for great music.
I started posting pictures of my newly acquired masterpieces on Facebook, adding notes about the history of a particular album or stories and memories that were triggered by particular soundtracks. Over time, I received responses of similar memories, enthusiasm from someone having learned an interesting fact or being exposed to music for which they had previously not been familiar, and ultimately a suggestion to turn this into something bigger.
Using my prior experience in production, improv comedy and an atraction to open microphones, this all led to the development of "Spin Class", a video podcast aimed at the makers and lovers of vinyl records.
Each week, we sit down for a one-on-one conversation with someone either tied to the music industry or that just wants to talk about the music they love and the memories those tuned conjure.
